Counting Inventors and Assignees on Where Innovation Happens map

Hi all,

I was wondering how patents, inventors, and assignees are counted on the "Where Innovation Happens" map here: PatentsView

It seems that for each patent, there can be multiple inventors located in multiple geographic areas. So if a patent has an inventor in both New York, NY and San Antonio, TX, would that one patent be counted for both cities and states? And if an inventor appears in multiple patents, would he/she be counted once in the "inventors" category once or multiple times?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

COUNTING INVENTORS AND ASSIGNEES ON WHERE INNOVATION HAPPENS MAP

Hi James,

Thank you for reaching out to our Team! To answer your questions:

1.  If a patent has an inventor in both New York and San Antonio that patent would be counted for both cities and states.
2. An inventor will only be counted once even if they appear on multiple patents. The data for such an inventor would, however, indicate the number of patents they appear on.

If you have any further questions please reach out to us again.

Best,
