Duplicate observations in location_inventor table

Hi,

Thanks for creating and sharing such an awesome and hugely helpful data sources and platform.

Currently, I am struggling to understand why there are multiple location_id, hence different location, for the same inventor. If it's a dynamic panel which shows the change of inventor's address, is there anyway to link each location to its patent's date?

Thanks!

Re: Response - DUPLICATE OBSERVATIONS IN LOCATION_INVENTOR TABLE

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out!

There are in fact multiple location ids associated with many inventors because they may have patented several different inventions in several different locations. The easiest way (using the data files) to get the location id for a particular inventor on a particular patent is to join the raw inventor table (which has the fields patent_id, inventor-id, and rawlocation-id) to the raw location table (which connects the rawlocation_id to the disambiguated location id) and then join the location table to get the disambiguated location information.

Hope this helps!

Thank you,
