missing inventor info

Hi, 

I found there are 1087 patents in the "patent" bulk download file missing inventor information from "patent_inventor" file. 

I queried some of them through PatentsView API and found "null" inventor data. However, when I search them on PatFT, they do have inventor info. I pasted the patent number here. Could you take a look? Is there a reason the inventor info is missing? Thank you!

missing patent inventors

There seem to be two sources of this issue.

One set of patents included in your list are the 'H-patents' - those with a patent ID beginning with H. There is a known issue in which many of our tables lack information from this category of patent. H-patents are planned to be reparsed and incorporated into the remaining tables in a future data update.

I ran a check on a couple dozen of the remaining patents, and they all seem to share two features: They all appear to have been granted during the period between January 1976 and July 2001, during which time USPTO's releases of patent data are in a text format different from the XML format currently used; and they all appear to include at least one inventor whose name is irregularly formatted, whether by including only one name (given name or surname), separating names by punctuation other than a semicolon which is the standard separator for names in this data format, or some other irregularity. I suspect that these irregularities caused these inventors to either be missed in parsing or removed in cleaning. We will keep these cases in mind for future reparsing efforts.
