CPC-Subsection Alternative to Dot Count

Hi,

Forum would let me comment on previous post.  So a new one.  Simple numbering schemes and digit positions do not determine the hierarchy.

For the cpc_subsection could a field be added that defines the parent in the hierarchy?

For example Ho1L22/12 would have Ho1L22/10

or

H01L23/04 would have H01l/23/02

it gets complicated

Hi Andy,

That's not a bad idea but the hierarchy is a two way street!  You may also want to know what classifications are derived from a particular classification (cpc_subgroup_id).  That is to be able to query for classifications that have a particular parent.  I have pages showing the cpc hierarchy.  Here's the one for H01L23/04.  It has derived classifications that have derived classifications (so the grandparent is H01L23/04) .

And if we're adding a parent…

And if we're adding a parent field, the uspc and ipc classifications have a similar parent/child structure to their hierarchy's.  They should get the new field as well!

Re: CPC Additional Fields

Hi,

We know there are fields that would be useful to add to cpc classification, and we are going to revise the cpc data for the scheduled June 2019 data update.

Thank you,

Status of CPC Fields

Hi,

I am wondering about this request.  I just checked the subgroup file (April 8, 2021) and the parent fields are not present.

I would very much like to get this information.
