Patent appplications

Hello, 

I have a question regarding the patent applications table. 

The table contains a variable named "id," which should be the application id. 

Another variable is the "patent_id." 

Could it be that each application has a patent id, given that some applications were not accepted? 

Or does the application table only contains information on granted applications?

Hello Ron!

PatentsView provides both granted and pre-grant versions of the application table.

The granted applications table contains the application information recorded in granted patents, and so only includes the application information for those applications that were accepted.

The pre-grant applications table contains the information from all applications which were published directly, and so also includes applications which were not accepted. Please note, however, that not all applications are published, and so this table does not exhaustively contain all applications submitted.
